Our History

Church Housing Corporation began in 1978 as an effort to provide safe and affordable housing for low-income elderly in the community. Father James Evans, along with the vestry of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Phoenixville, started the task of raising funds to build an apartment building. In 1985, they opened St. Peter's Place; a seven story apartment building for low-income elderly located at 111 Church St. in Phoenixville.

In 1999, Kathryn Evans, MSW, founded the social service division. She comes with many years of experience working with diverse populations.

Our supportive services enable our residents to maintain independence while fostering a sense of community. With the addition of Kathryn, the company transcended Fr. Evans' original pastoral service to become an enduring entity.
